General Technician and Plumber

About the role

Hyde Hotels is seeking a skilled General Technician and Plumber to join its engineering team in Dubai. The role involves responding quickly to maintenance requests, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all plumbing and related systems across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Respond immediately to health‑and‑safety, water leak, flooding, blocked drainage and other urgent engineering issues.
• Carry out plumbing installation, inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry, back‑of‑house and plant rooms.
• Maintain and repair hot‑ and cold‑water supply systems, pipework, valves, pumps, storage tanks, circulation systems and water heaters.
• Repair toilets, showers, baths, sinks, taps, mixers, flush valves and other sanitary fittings.
• Identify and rectify water leaks, blocked drains, damaged pipework and defective fittings, investigating root causes where practical.
• Maintain drainage, waste, sewage and storm‑water systems, including floor drains and traps.
• Support plumbing connections to kitchen, laundry, ice‑making and dishwasher equipment.
• Perform water‑hygiene checks, hot‑water temperature monitoring and Legionella risk controls.
• Operate, maintain and repair water works, steam‑generation equipment and LP‑gas systems within competency.
• Carry out basic electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, tiling, sealing, grouting and furniture/fixture repairs as needed.
• Assist other engineering trades during planned maintenance, breakdowns, projects and renovations.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a plumber, general technician or maintenance technician, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Knowledge of hotel safety procedures and statutory requirements.
• Ability to work promptly, professionally and courteously with guests and colleagues.
