Geotechnical Engineer – Major Infrastructure Projects

About the role

WSP is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team, delivering major transportation, road, utilities and infrastructure projects across the UAE. The role involves leading geotechnical investigations, analysis and design while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to provide safe and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and assessments for roads, highways, transportation, utilities and infrastructure projects.
• Interpret ground investigation data and develop design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, excavations, embankments and slope stability.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical design reports, factual reports, specifications and technical submissions.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams throughout planning and design stages and provide construction‑phase support.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, international standards and local authority regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience on large‑scale transportation, road and infrastructure projects.
• Strong consultancy background within engineering design environments, preferably in the UAE or GCC region.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes, AASHTO, British Standards and relevant UAE standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT and WALLAP.
• Experience interpreting geotechnical investigation data and laboratory test results.
