GitOps Engineering Manager

About the role

Canonical is looking for a GitOps Engineering Manager to lead a high-performance, fully distributed team that builds and operates cloud-native, infrastructure-as-code solutions. The role combines technical expertise in Linux, Kubernetes and DevOps with strong people-management skills to drive automation across Ubuntu and Canonical services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a remote engineering team in daily agile DevOps and GitOps practices.
• Represent the Infrastructure Services team to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Organise, coordinate and deliver internal projects that improve automation and reliability.
• Mentor engineers, foster skill growth and measure team health indicators.
• Design and implement structured engineering and operational processes for large-scale systems.
• Collaborate across the full stack—from bare metal to Kubernetes, public cloud, private cloud and edge.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing high-performing DevOps or GitOps teams.
• Deep expertise in Linux system administration and cloud-native operations.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed environment.
