About the role

GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail is seeking a dynamic Head of English to lead its English department in Dubai. This senior position offers the chance to shape curriculum delivery, mentor staff, and uphold the school’s high standards of teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the English curriculum across all year groups.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of English teachers to ensure outstanding classroom practice.
• Coordinate assessment strategies for GCSE and A‑Level programmes.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on school‑wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain alignment with the National Curriculum for England and school policies.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with a B.Ed. or equivalent degree and a PGCE/PGDE or similar certification.
• Proven experience teaching GCSE and A‑Level (or equivalent) subjects.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering high‑quality teaching and learning outcomes.
• Extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programmes.
