About the role

GEMS Metropole School in Dubai is seeking a dynamic Head of English to lead its English department. This senior position offers the chance to shape curriculum delivery, mentor teachers, and drive academic excellence in a world‑class international school.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the English department, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement curriculum strategies aligned with the National Curriculum for England and local requirements.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate English teachers to maintain outstanding instructional standards.
• Coordinate assessment processes for GCSE, A‑Level (or equivalent) programmes.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on school‑wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.

Required profile

• Certified teaching qualification with strong subject knowledge.
• Experience teaching GCSE and A‑Level (or equivalent) curricula.
• Proven record of outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
• Significant experience with the National Curriculum for England.
• B.Ed. or relevant bachelor’s degree plus PGCE/PGDE or equivalent.
• Willingness to engage in extracurricular activities.
