Head of Instrumentation

About the role

We are searching for an experienced Head of Instrumentation to lead the instrumentation engineering function across major upstream offshore oil & gas projects for a top‑tier EPC contractor. This senior leadership position oversees technical quality, engineering standards and delivery from concept selection through detailed design for offshore fixed‑facility developments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Instrumentation Engineering department across multiple live offshore projects.
• Provide leadership to Project Section Leaders, Technical Managers, Principal Engineers, Lead Engineers and Instrumentation Engineers.
• Hold oversight and signature authority across instrumentation engineering work and deliverables.
• Ensure the quality, technical integrity and consistency of instrumentation engineering design output.
• Oversee instrumentation scope from concept selection through detailed design.
• Support major upstream offshore fixed‑facility projects, including jackets, platforms and topsides.
• Liaise with Supply Chain and suppliers on technical queries and procurement‑related instrumentation matters.
• Work closely with Construction leadership to ensure engineering design intent is carried through to execution readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality, technical standards and departmental performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of instrumentation engineering experience.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience at a managerial or leadership level.
• Strong background within upstream offshore oil & gas engineering.
• Extensive experience with fixed offshore facilities such as jackets, platforms and topsides.
• Experience across concept, FEED and detailed design stages.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary EPCI engineering environment.
• Technical exposure to Honeywell DCS and SCADA systems.
• Proven ability to lead large engineering teams and maintain high standards across multiple projects.
• Experience supporting major national and international oil & gas operators in the GCC is advantageous.
