Quality Control Inspector – Civil (QCI)

About the role

SGS is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector (QCI) to oversee civil and structural activities on construction sites in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures that all workmanship and materials meet project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect civil works such as excavation, formwork, rebar placement, concrete pouring, finishing, and backfilling.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
• Witness and document concrete quality tests (slump, cube, compaction, etc.).
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action records.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering and QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and support continuous improvement of site quality systems.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience as a civil QCI on EPC or construction projects, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical or industrial sectors.

Required skills

• Civil inspection of construction activities.
• Concrete testing (slump, cube, compaction).
• Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, BS and ISO standards.
• Preparation of inspection reports and NCR documentation.
• Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, ITPs and method statements.
