Health, Safety & Environment Officer – Building Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer to lead safety initiatives on building construction sites in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with UAE regulations, ISO 45001 standards and NEBOSH guidelines while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections and monitor high‑risk activities such as working at heights, scaffolding, lifting, hot works, confined spaces, and traffic management.
• Verify proper use of PPE, safety signage, barricading and access controls.
• Develop, implement and maintain the project HSE plan, records, inspection reports and registers.
• Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports for internal and client review, ensuring alignment with Abu Dhabi OSHAD requirements.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions and refresher sessions for workers and visitors.
• Report incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions, assist in investigations and support root‑cause analysis.
• Participate in emergency drills and verify readiness of emergency equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or Occupational Safety (preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of HSE experience on building construction projects.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate – mandatory.
• ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification – required.
• Strong knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi HSE regulations (OSHAD, ADQCC).
• Excellent English communication; additional languages are a plus.
