High School Computer Science Teacher

About the role

Dubai American Academy, GEMS Education's flagship American curriculum school, is looking for a High School Computer Science Teacher to join from August 2027. The school offers education from PreK to Grade 12 alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and holds an Outstanding KHDA rating for 13 consecutive years. The academy welcomes experienced American curriculum and/or IB educators who are passionate about academic excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and interactive Computer Science lessons to high school students following the school's curriculum and educational standards.
• Develop and implement creative teaching strategies that inspire a love of Computer Science and foster critical thinking.
• Collaborate with colleagues to build a positive, supportive learning environment and ensure continuity of curriculum delivery.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and foster an inclusive classroom culture.
• Take part in parent-teacher conferences and keep parents informed about student progress.
• Contribute to the school's life through enrichment opportunities and professional learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree together with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, state license or equivalent in Computer Science.
• Proven experience teaching Computer Science at high school level, ideally in an American or IB curriculum school.
• Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and practical Computer Science instruction.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practice.
