High School Counselor (Start Aug 2026)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic High School Counselor to join our dedicated team at GEMS Dubai American Academy starting in August 2026. The role involves providing comprehensive academic, personal, social and emotional support to high school students, helping them achieve success in all areas of their lives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a counseling program aligned with school requirements and student needs.
• Provide academic, personal, social, emotional and psychological counseling to students.
• Manage student transitions and coordinate external assistance for personal problems.
• Develop activities that promote holistic development, leadership, cooperation and social skills.
• Maintain detailed student records and track progress using data and evidence.
• Establish guidelines to address bullying and administer testing programs to evaluate aptitude and achievement.
• Communicate promptly with parents regarding academic or behavioral concerns.
• Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees and undertake additional duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree with a qualification in psychology or counseling.
• Minimum one year of school‑based counseling experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy and ability to build trust with students.
• Commitment to confidentiality, discretion and continuous professional development.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
