Homeroom Teacher (Maternity Cover) - Immediate Start

About the role

Aldar Education is recruiting a homeroom teacher for maternity cover at Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School (ABO) in Abu Dhabi, with an immediate start. ABO follows the US curriculum and is a large charter school with over 1,500 students from KG2 to Grade 5. The successful candidate will align with the school's values of respect, collaboration, passion, integrity and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements and cater to the whole ability range in the class
• Organise classroom provision and learning resources, and create displays that encourage a positive learning environment
• Observe and assess children in line with school assessments, and use assessment data to inform planning, provision and intervention
• Record student development in Target Tracker and give feedback to parents and carers at parent-teacher conferences
• Manage the class effectively, following the school's behaviour policy, while maintaining positive relationships with pupils
• Meet with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists where needed
• Work with curriculum support staff, take part in curriculum action groups and school events, and run a weekly ECA each term
• Communicate with parents and carers about student achievement and well-being using school systems such as CPOMS

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in the related subject with PGCE or another teacher qualification
• Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language
• Commitment to educating the whole child, professionalism and a solution-focused attitude
