HPC System Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled HPC Systems Engineer to manage and optimise our high‑performance computing environment that supports Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) workloads. Based in Abu Dhabi, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of HPC operations, from infrastructure provisioning to user support and capacity planning.

Key responsibilities

• Administer compute, login and heterogeneous nodes, NAS storage servers and InfiniBand interconnects.
• Maintain HPC‑related databases, perform backups and ensure audit compliance.
• Monitor hardware health, manage CPU temperatures, memory errors and disk failures to guarantee high availability.
• Configure and tune job schedulers such as Slurm, PBS, LSF or Grid Engine, implementing fair‑share, QoS and pre‑emption policies.
• Allocate node reservations for large CFD/FEA jobs and advise on CPU/GPU architecture selection.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, storage quotas and enforce secure SSH and MFA access.
• Apply OS patches, security updates and vulnerability fixes in line with IT governance.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Linux system administration.
• Hands‑on knowledge of HPC schedulers (Slurm, PBS, LSF, Grid Engine).
• Familiarity with engineering simulation tools and workloads (CFD, FEA).
• Ability to monitor and troubleshoot high‑speed interconnects and storage systems.
