Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The Department of Finance is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to ensure the high availability, performance, and security of its IT environment. You will manage both physical and cloud infrastructure, supporting business continuity across hybrid platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, automate, and patch physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux) to maintain optimal uptime.
• Manage hybrid and multi‑cloud environments, primarily AWS and Azure.
• Use monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks and perform capacity planning.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code (DevOps) tools.
• Implement security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and regular patching schedules.
• Establish backup, redundancy, and disaster‑recovery procedures and perform restorations when needed.
• Act as an escalation point for complex hardware and software incidents.
• Collaborate with developers and IT teams to align infrastructure with application requirements.
• Document architecture, configurations, SOPs, and incident resolutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Networking.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Certified Data Center Professional, and cloud certifications from Microsoft or AWS.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Terraform).
• Network security concepts, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Backup and disaster‑recovery technologies.
• Cisco networking expertise (CCNP, CCIE).
• Data center operations knowledge.
