Internal Audit Manager - Customs Operations

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager – Customs Operations will lead the planning, execution, and reporting of audit engagements within the Industry Department of the Government. This role supports the development of operational strategies, ensures compliance with regulations, and provides insights to align services with government priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive audit programs and execute audit assignments for customs operations.
• Contribute to the development of industry strategy and operational plans in line with sector guidance.
• Lead audits of targeted auditees, assessing alignment with strategic plans and government priorities.
• Present audit reports, highlight key findings, and identify short‑ and long‑term risks.
• Manage follow‑up actions, monitor corrective measures, and report progress in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Establish strategic business partnerships and oversee stakeholder engagement.
• Resolve audit issues and escalate complex matters for further analysis.
• Lead research, thought leadership, and market insight generation related to the industry.
• Monitor regulatory changes and propose compliance adaptations.
• Coach and develop audit team members, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CIA, or CFA (mandatory).
• Proven experience in audit management, preferably within the industry or customs sector.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
