Lead I&C Engineer - SmartPlant Instrumentation & Smart 3D

About the role

Rejlers International Engineering Solutions, an engineering consultancy active in the UAE since over 15 years, is looking for a Lead I&C Engineer (SmartPlant Instrumentation and Smart 3D) to lead the Instrumentation & Control discipline and its SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart 3D (SP3D) design teams on digitization projects in Abu Dhabi. The role reports to the Head of Discipline, I&C, and covers technical leadership, delivery and quality of I&C engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the project manager, clients, vendors and OEMs, attend client meetings and present discipline status
• Manage interfaces with process, electrical, piping, mechanical, civil-structural and telecom disciplines, including inter-discipline checks
• Implement discipline QA/QC: checking procedures, internal audits and deliverable quality reviews
• Follow department and client engineering and drafting standards, and promote HSE in all activities
• Lead a team of I&C engineers, SPI administrators/designers and SP3D instrument designers, delivering safely, on budget, schedule and quality
• Drive discipline goals with the project management team, other disciplines, clients and vendors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (BEng / BSc) in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical or Control Engineering; a master's degree is an advantage
• At least 15 years of I&C engineering experience in oil & gas / petrochemical EPC contractors or engineering consultants, including at least 5 years as Lead I&C Engineer
• At least 8 years of hands-on SPI experience, including leading SPI teams and project set-up / administration
• At least 5 years of SP3D experience in instrumentation / E&I modelling, including leading or coordinating 3D designers
• Proven experience on ADNOC (onshore / offshore / gas) or ADNOC group projects
• Fluent English; UAE local experience and meeting UAE visa requirements are an added value

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of DCS, ESD/SIS, F&G and PLC systems, functional safety (IEC 61511), hazardous area classification and instrument sizing
• SPI modules (Instrument Index, Specifications, Process Data, Calculation, Wiring, Loop Drawings, Hook-ups, Browser, Administration) and InfoMaker customisation
• S3D instrument and cable tray modelling, model reviews (SmartPlant Review / Navisworks), clash management and drawing extraction
• Integration with SPPID, SPEL and SPF; familiarity with AGPS/DGS and ADNOC standards is preferred
• Experience with man-hour estimates, deliverable lists and proposals; MSSQL / Oracle queries and VB.NET are an asset
