Lead Material Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Lead Material Engineer to drive materials engineering activities across FEED, EPC and detailed engineering phases for oil & gas and petrochemical projects in Abu Dhabi. You will develop and implement material selection strategies that ensure safety, reliability and cost‑effectiveness for process facilities, pipelines, equipment and offshore structures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all materials engineering tasks during FEED, EPC and detailed design.
• Develop material selection strategies for pipelines, static equipment, offshore structures and related systems.
• Prepare, review and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies, specifications and technical requisitions.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications and international codes such as NACE, ASME, ASTM, API and ISO.
• Provide technical expertise in corrosion control, coating systems, cathodic protection, metallurgy, welding and non‑metallic materials.
• Review vendor documentation, technical bids and material compliance records.
• Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability reviews, value engineering and design optimisation.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection and Procurement disciplines.
• Lead, mentor and supervise a team of specialists and engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in the GCC region (preferred).
• Proven leadership and team‑management capabilities.
