Lead Materials Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Lead Materials Engineer to drive materials engineering activities for major oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role will oversee material selection, corrosion control and specification development throughout FEED, EPC and detailed engineering phases, ensuring safety, reliability and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all materials engineering tasks during FEED, EPC and detailed design.
• Develop and implement material selection strategies for process facilities, pipelines, static equipment and offshore structures.
• Prepare, review and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies, material specifications and technical requisitions.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications and international codes such as NACE, ASME, ASTM, API and ISO.
• Provide technical expertise in corrosion control, coating systems, cathodic protection, metallurgy, welding and non‑metallic materials.
• Review vendor documentation, technical bids and material compliance records.
• Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability, value engineering and design optimisation studies.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection and Procurement disciplines.
• Mentor and supervise a team of specialists and engineers to deliver high‑quality engineering deliverables on schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
• Proven experience leading materials engineering teams and projects.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC standards and international codes.

Required skills
