Legal & Compliance Associate – London or Abu Dhabi

About the role

GFO‑X Group is looking for a Legal & Compliance Associate to join its growing team in either London or Abu Dhabi. The role provides hands‑on support to the Legal and Compliance functions, covering legal research, document drafting, KYC/AML assistance and regulatory coordination within a regulated digital‑asset derivatives environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and maintain legal documents such as membership agreements, rulebooks, policies (including GDPR), onboarding documentation, commercial contracts and NDAs.
• Support day‑to‑day compliance processes, including client onboarding checks, KYC, enhanced due diligence, AML risk assessments, sanctions screening and monitoring.
• Maintain compliance logs, registers, trackers and audit trails, liaising with the MLRO and CCO teams.
• Assist in preparing regulatory submissions, responding to supervisory queries and maintaining regulatory records.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting digital‑asset derivatives, market infrastructure and CCP regulation, and produce updates for the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law, regulation and compliance or a related discipline.
• 5‑7 years of experience in a legal, regulatory or compliance function (global law firm, exchange, CCP, financial institution, consultancy or regulator). For qualified lawyers, 3‑5 years PQE.
• Exposure to financial services, fintech or market infrastructure, preferably with digital‑asset experience.
• Strong legal drafting ability, high attention to detail and solid analytical and research skills.
