Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Waagner Biro Bridge Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Section Head in delivering high‑quality bridge, steel structure, and marine engineering projects. The role involves ensuring technical accuracy, supervising on‑site mechanical works, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to achieve project milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Section Head with all aspects of mechanical engineering projects.
• Prepare, review, and verify utility designs, shop drawings, and as‑built drawings for compliance.
• Supervise on‑site execution of utility works, ensuring quality, safety, and minimal service disruption.
• Identify and resolve clashes between existing utilities and new infrastructure.
• Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and support cost/BOQ verification.
• Coordinate with supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
• Track mechanical progress through Material Inspection Reports (MIR) and Inspection Reports (IR).
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist in commissioning, testing, and value‑engineering proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering projects, preferably in bridge or marine construction.
• Ability to supervise on‑site works and manage subcontractors.
• Familiarity with utility design review, shop drawing verification, and as‑built documentation.
• Strong coordination skills with consultants, site managers, and local authorities.
