Mechanical Site Engineer – Substation Projects

About the role

Larsen & Toubro is looking for a Mechanical Site Engineer to lead mechanical works on substation projects in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves supervising installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems such as transformer auxiliaries, firefighting, HVAC and oil handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day mechanical activities on the substation site, ensuring work follows approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance, resource utilization and alignment, leveling, and quality of installed equipment.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment, conduct pre‑commissioning checks and maintain accurate records.
• Perform routine inspections, raise observations and ensure corrective actions are implemented in coordination with QA/QC engineers.
• Verify material deliveries meet technical requirements and manage documentation for inspections and approvals.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil and other discipline teams, as well as subcontractors, vendors and consultants, to ensure smooth execution.
• Participate in daily/weekly site meetings, provide progress updates and resolve technical conflicts.

Required profile

• Minimum 36 months (3 years) of experience in mechanical works for substation or similar industrial projects.
• Proven ability to supervise site activities, manage contractors and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Strong coordination skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
