Mechatronics Engineer II

About the role

The Mechatronics Engineer II will join Powertech’s Advanced Propulsion team to develop actuation and control infrastructure for experimental, low‑TRL propulsion architectures. The role focuses on designing electromechanical systems that enable adaptive and multimodal engine operation, bridging mechanical hardware with advanced control strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electromechanical actuation systems for variable‑geometry, valve and flow‑control mechanisms.
• Integrate motors, sensors, gear trains and embedded electronics capable of operating in high‑temperature, high‑stress environments.
• Build the infrastructure linking actuators, sensors and control units within advanced engine architectures.
• Develop and implement feedback control strategies and multi‑domain models of mechanical, electrical and control dynamics.
• Prototype, assemble and test experimental propulsion subsystems, including instrumentation and data‑acquisition setups.
• Collaborate with propulsion, controls and electronics engineers to validate concepts and refine system designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience developing electromechanical or robotic systems.
• Proven experience integrating actuators, sensors and embedded control hardware.
