Lead Electrical Engineer – Dubai

About the role

Wood is currently sourcing for a Lead Electrical Engineer to strengthen its team in Dubai. This is a residential position based in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the electrical engineering and design teams on the contract and in high‑value execution centres (HVEC).
• Ensure all team members are competency assessed and maintain required competency levels.
• Take single‑point responsibility for all electrical engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with codes, standards and client policies.
• Manage and report progress of electrical engineering and design budgets in line with contract requirements.
• Oversee engineering and design resource requirements and ensure compliance with management‑of‑change processes.
• Provide technical guidance, raise appropriate engineering queries/deviations, and participate in safety and design reviews.
• Coordinate with other disciplines throughout design, construction, pre‑commissioning and start‑up phases.
• Support site activities such as material inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Identify progress or quality concerns and recommend corrective actions.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering/Project Manager.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical system design and analysis fundamentals.
• Strong awareness of international codes and standards.
• Experience participating in HAZID, HAZOP and IPF/SIL classification studies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical design software, including Smartplant.
• Experience with Concept Selection and FEED studies.
• Ability to conduct HAZID, HAZOP and IPF/SIL classification analyses.
• Knowledge of international electrical codes and standards.
• Expertise in electrical system design and analysis.
