Nursing Supervisor – Nursing Operations

About the role

The Nursing Supervisor – Nursing Operations provides middle‑management leadership for the Nursing Department and overall hospital patient‑care services. Working 24/7, the role ensures safe practice, coordinates patient flow, and supports staff across all units.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise nursing teams after hours, maintaining high safety standards and compliance with policies.
• Act as on‑call liaison for nursing departments, handling emergencies, disasters, and code activations.
• Coordinate patient placement, bed availability, and staffing allocations based on patient acuity and census.
• Round on all nursing units to optimize care, enhance safety, and develop staff.
• Manage the nurse float pool and activate specialty on‑call staff for emergency interventions.
• Serve as primary external contact for SEHA/DOH and other agencies.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and corrective actions to ensure policy adherence and resolve operational issues.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Middle‑management experience in nursing supervision or hospital operations.
• Strong knowledge of hospital and nursing policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Ability to make independent judgments and allocate resources based on workload measures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and staff development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using information technology for accessing and transmitting clinical information.
