Medical Physicist – Heavy Ion Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy

About the role

We are seeking a Medical Physicist to join Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s new Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy (CIRT) program. The role will support the Heavy Ion Therapy (HIT) service, ensuring safe and optimal delivery of particle‑based radiation treatments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute treatment plans for carbon ion and other external‑beam modalities.
• Perform quality assurance, machine acceptance testing, and weekly chart checks.
• Maintain radiation safety compliance with UAE (FANR) regulations.
• Lead process improvement initiatives for SRS/SBRT, HDR brachytherapy, and image‑guided therapies.
• Collaborate with vendors, IT, and clinical engineering on hardware/software issues.
• Participate in research, education, and multidisciplinary chart rounds.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of clinical radiation therapy experience with treatment planning and quality management.
• Hands‑on experience with particle therapy, specifically heavy ion and carbon ion radiation.
• Master’s or PhD in radiation physics; current UAE license or eligibility.
• ABR board certification in radiation therapy physics (preferred) and AAPM membership (preferred).
