Outreach and Engagement Manager

About the role

The Outreach and Engagement Manager will lead HCT’s efforts to connect with its local community, aligning campus activities with community needs and promoting the institution through events, marketing, and alumni relations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of campus Outreach and Engagement strategic objectives.
• Develop and monitor policies, procedures and compliance for the function.
• Maintain strong communication with Partnership Central Services and external stakeholders such as business associations, government entities, NGOs and social organisations.
• Identify and execute opportunities to promote HCT through events, marketing campaigns and alumni networks.
• Align campus programmes with community labour trends and advise academic staff on improvement opportunities.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of an Outreach and Engagement database covering industry liaison, alumni affairs, events and marketing.
• Network continuously to identify employment opportunities for graduates and represent HCT at local conferences.
• Negotiate with advertising, marketing and event agencies within budget and policy guidelines.
• Manage local media engagement in coordination with Communications Central Services.
• Establish and integrate a local alumni network with the broader HCT alumni system, developing programmes that engage alumni professionally and personally.
• Support academic operations by identifying potential employers and work‑placement opportunities, and coach subordinates.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading outreach, community engagement or similar initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with business associations, government bodies, NGOs and industry partners.
• Experience in event planning, marketing coordination and alumni relations.
• Ability to align academic programmes with labour market trends.
• Leadership and coaching capabilities for a small team.
