Pastry Commis (Level 1)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Pastry Commis to join our high‑end pastry team in Dubai. This entry‑level position offers the chance to develop your craft in a luxury hospitality environment, supporting daily pastry production and learning from experienced chefs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and pastry team with daily pastry production.
• Prepare mise en place and ingredients according to established recipes and production requirements.
• Help produce pastries, cakes, desserts, breads, cookies, and other pastry items.
• Follow recipes, portioning, and presentation standards accurately.
• Assist with decorating, finishing, and plating of pastry and dessert items.
• Maintain quality, freshness, and consistency of all products.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures for ingredients.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean, organized, and hygienic.
• Adhere to HACCP, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a commis chef, preferably in a 5‑star hotel or high‑quality pastry operation.
• Basic knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
• Culinary or pastry qualification is preferred.
• Basic understanding of HACCP and food safety standards.
• Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to work under pressure.
• Positive attitude, teamwork orientation, and good communication skills.
• Passion for pastry and a genuine interest in a career within luxury hospitality.
