Physics Trainer – Preparatory Program (Part‑Time)

About the role

The American University in the Emirates is seeking a part‑time Physics Trainer to deliver preparatory physics courses for students transitioning into undergraduate programmes. You will help build solid conceptual foundations, analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities essential for university‑level studies.

Key responsibilities

• Teach preparatory physics courses, designing lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with AUE standards.
• Prepare and administer assessments, examinations and provide timely feedback.
• Offer academic guidance, tutoring and extra support to students needing reinforcement.
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records and report on performance.
• Collaborate with Mathematics and Computing trainers to ensure curriculum coherence.
• Review and enhance the physics curriculum, assessments and learning activities.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions and academic development initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at university, foundation or preparatory level.
• Experience with preparatory, foundation or bridging programmes is highly preferred.
• Ability to teach diverse student groups with varying academic backgrounds.
• Strong communication and classroom‑management skills.
