Planning and Cost Specialist

About the role

Wood is seeking a Planning and Cost Specialist to join its Oil, Gas & New Energies business in Abu Dhabi. The role will support the delivery of large‑scale upstream and mid‑stream projects by managing cost control, estimation and contractual aspects throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop contractual requirements for cost control, estimation, invoicing and variations and embed them in tender documents.
• Evaluate technical bids (FEED, PMC, EPC) for compliance and prepare technical evaluation reports.
• Analyse variation requests and contractor claims, produce counter‑estimates and recommend actions to management.
• Prepare AFE/AFOU documentation for ongoing projects and obtain management approval.
• Coordinate with Project Control Managers to ensure adherence to project control procedures.
• Ensure proper cost coding and charge allocation to correct account codes.

Required profile

• Experience in cost control, estimation and contract administration within oil & gas or related engineering projects.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to assess bids, variations and financial implications.
• Familiarity with project control processes and documentation such as AFE/AFOU.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
