Planning Engineer - Civil & Structural Steel Projects

About the role

A client of Agile Consultants is hiring a Planning Engineer in Dubai to develop, monitor, update and control project schedules for civil and structural steel construction projects. The role covers construction planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, delay analysis, resource forecasting and reporting so that projects finish within the contractual timeframe.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare baseline construction programmes in Primavera P6 or equivalent, including WBS, milestones, critical paths and activity sequences
• Develop procurement, fabrication and construction schedules, and recovery and acceleration programmes when needed
• Monitor progress against approved baselines, conduct site visits and track critical and near-critical activities
• Identify delays, constraints and risks, prepare Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and support Extension of Time (EOT) claims
• Track steel detailing, fabrication, delivery and erection schedules, and coordinate with fabrication workshops
• Forecast labour, equipment and materials, prepare manpower histograms and resource-loaded schedules, and advise on resource allocation
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly progress reports, executive dashboards, S-curves and productivity reports, and present updates at progress meetings
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, QA/QC, procurement and subcontractors, and attend coordination meetings
• Maintain planning records, archive documents and assist in as-built schedules and close-out documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling
• Experience in civil works, structural steel buildings, industrial facilities, warehouses, factories or commercial projects
• Strong knowledge of project controls, delay analysis, EOT and cost claims, and TIA

Required skills

• Primavera P6 certification preferred; advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
• Microsoft Project and advanced Excel for reporting
• Basic AutoCAD; Power BI and schedule risk analysis tools preferred
