Poultry BC Technician

About the role

The Poultry Breeding Center (BC) Technician supports daily operations of the Poultry Breeding Center, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of breeder flocks. The role involves husbandry, egg handling, biosecurity, facility upkeep, and accurate record keeping.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily husbandry activities for breeder flocks, including feeding, watering, and routine inspections.
• Collect, inspect, grade, and store hatching eggs; assist with incubation, candling, hatching, and chick handling.
• Monitor bird health, assist with vaccinations, medication administration, and disease surveillance under veterinary guidance.
• Implement strict biosecurity protocols and maintain sanitation of houses, equipment, and vehicles.
• Clean and maintain poultry houses, nesting areas, feeders, drinkers, incubators, and hatchery equipment; monitor environmental conditions.
• Maintain accurate records of feed and water consumption, egg production, hatchability, mortality, treatments, and environmental data.
• Monitor inventory of feed, vaccines, medications, bedding, and supplies; assist with stock counts and replenishment.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or a related field (High School Diploma with relevant experience may be considered).
• 2–4 years of experience in poultry breeding or related poultry operations.
