Practical Nurse – Tower D4 A (AHDU)

About the role

The Practical Nurse provides patient care in accordance with established care plans under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role supports the mission, vision and values of the organization while adhering to the Abu Dhabi Nursing Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and implement nursing care under RN supervision, ensuring a patient‑centered approach.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including meal distribution and hygiene.
• Report significant changes in patient condition to the RN immediately.
• Respond to emergencies according to organization policies and procedures.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with patients and their representatives; ensure accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver effective, efficient patient‑centered care.
• Document care using electronic medical records and other information technology.
• Support RNs and clerical staff with administrative duties as required.
• Provide patients and families with comprehensive information and resources.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and family information.
• Suggest strategies to reduce costs and improve resource utilization.
• Maintain inventory of examination room supplies and prepare rooms for each patient encounter.
• In the outpatient setting, greet, room, take vital signs, prepare patients for exams/procedures and give follow‑up instructions.
• Ensure exam rooms and clinic areas are stocked to promote efficient care.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Required profile

• Qualified Practical Nurse able to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Familiar with the Abu Dhabi Nursing Scope of Practice and Code of Conduct.
• Accountable for own actions and able to maintain professional confidentiality.
• Effective communicator with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
• Willing to follow organization policies for emergency response and documentation.
