Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

As a Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer you will design, implement and maintain AI/ML infrastructure for customers, working closely with data scientists, software engineers and internal cloud teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of AI/ML infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability and security.
• Implement, operate and troubleshoot AI/ML platforms for proof‑of‑concept and production deployments.
• Collaborate with customer technical teams to translate requirements into tailored infrastructure solutions.
• Integrate AI/ML workloads with the company’s cloud services and monitor performance to optimise cost and reliability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and document designs and procedures.

Required profile

• Strong experience with scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Python.
• Hands‑on expertise in containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools (Slurm, PBS).
• Deep knowledge of Linux system administration across Oracle Linux/RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian.
• Solid understanding of networking, security best practices and high‑performance GPU systems.

Required skills

• Python (and optionally Rust, Go, Java, Scala).
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools: Ansible, Terraform.
• Container platforms: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Orchestration for HPC: Slurm, PBS.
• Machine‑learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn.
• DevOps CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Prometheus.
