Principal Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre (Dubai)

About the role

Ramboll is building a dedicated data centre practice in the MENA region and seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead cooling and HVAC design for mission‑critical data centre projects in Dubai. The role combines technical leadership with full lifecycle ownership, from concept and cooling strategy through detailed design, construction support and performance validation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead and subject‑matter expert for HVAC and cooling systems on data centre projects.
• Develop end‑to‑end cooling strategies, perform detailed HVAC design and coordinate with electrical, structural, architectural and DC power teams.
• Provide construction support, oversee installation, commissioning and performance testing of mechanical systems.
• Advise on AI deployment impacts and guide cross‑discipline discussions to integrate emerging power density requirements.
• Ensure compliance with data centre operational, maintenance and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for data centre or high‑density computing environments.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects from concept to handover.
• Strong understanding of electrical, structural and architectural interfaces in data centre design.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to translate AI‑driven requirements into mechanical solutions.
