Principal Safety Engineer - Offshore Detailed Engineering

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to lead offshore detailed engineering activities. The role ensures health, safety and environmental (HSE) and process‑safety compliance across design projects, supporting the transition to sustainable energy while maintaining current resource needs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project deliverables, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Prepare proposals, man‑hour estimates and execution methodologies.
• Identify HSE requirements, develop and implement project HSE plans, loss‑prevention and fire‑&‑gas (F&G) philosophies.
• Lead and coordinate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, PHSER and 3D model reviews.
• Review multidisciplinary design documents for HSE compliance and hazard identification.
• Develop hazardous‑area schedules, fire‑protection layouts and fire‑water system designs, including hydraulic analysis using PIPENET.
• Apply ADNOC offshore engineering practices, NFPA, API and other international codes.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including dispersion, fire/explosion modelling, COMAH safety cases and flare‑radiation studies.
• Support procurement activities, cost estimation and quality‑assurance processes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in offshore safety and process‑safety engineering.
• Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and deliver HSE‑focused documentation.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC offshore guidelines, NFPA, API and other relevant standards.
• Demonstrated competence in risk‑assessment methodologies and safety‑case preparation.
