Principal Systems Engineer - Landing Gear

About the role

The Principal Systems Engineer – Landing Gear will lead the technical development of landing‑gear systems for UAV and aerospace platforms. You will provide system‑level architecture, integration, verification and lifecycle management while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across structure, hydraulics, avionics and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the landing‑gear system architecture, design, sizing and configuration trade‑offs.
• Define, manage and trace system requirements and specifications using DOORS or equivalent.
• Develop and control interfaces between landing gear, structure, hydraulics, avionics and control systems.
• Conduct static, kinematic, dynamic, fatigue and landing‑load analyses.
• Lead safety activities such as FHA, FMEA and PSSA/PSA.
• Create and execute verification and validation plans, supporting ground and flight testing.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace, defence, airworthiness and certification standards.
• Technically manage suppliers, review designs, qualification evidence and verification results.
• Support maintainability, lifecycle management, obsolescence and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 15+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, including 8+ years in landing‑gear design or integration.
• Experience on UAV, aircraft or rotorcraft programmes and safety‑critical system development.
• Fluent English communication; willingness to relocate to the UAE and obtain UAE defence/security clearance.

Required skills

• Systems engineering and MBSE (V‑model, requirements management).
• Landing‑gear design, sizing, shock absorbers, actuators and retraction mechanisms.
• Safety analysis methods: FHA, FMEA, PSSA/PSA.
• Requirements tools: DOORS or equivalent.
• CAD/CAE tools: CATIA, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, ADAMS.
• Aerospace standards: ARP4754, ARP4761, DO‑160, DO‑254, MIL‑STD‑810H, AS9100, GCAA/EASA.
• Supplier technical management and qualification.
