Principal Systems Engineer – Tactical Datalink

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of tactical datalink solutions for advanced defence capabilities. The role involves working on national, coalition and NATO‑standard systems such as Link‑16, ensuring they meet rigorous mission‑critical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Message Standards protocols team and design large‑scale C4I and tactical datalink solutions.
• Develop and maintain interoperability across standards (Link‑16, MIP, VMF, FFT, ADATP‑3) and define information‑exchange requirements.
• Support the full systems‑engineering lifecycle from concept, requirements analysis and traceability to integration, verification, validation and delivery.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, network, cybersecurity and test engineering groups, producing and managing engineering documentation (SS/SSS, IRS/ICDs, integration plans, test procedures and reports).
• Participate in design reviews, technical assessments and trade studies, and engage with customers and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in specification, development, integration and testing of tactical datalink or C4I systems.
• Proven experience with national, international or coalition solutions, including NATO‑standard implementations.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills within highly regulated, mission‑critical environments.
