Process Engineer – Soldering (PCBA)

About the role

Eaton is seeking a Process Engineer specialized in PCBA soldering to set‑up, validate, maintain and improve wave, selective wave, manual, robotic soldering and depaneling equipment. The role ensures production quality, supports new product introductions and drives continuous improvement across soldering processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain work instructions for soldering, depaneling and X‑Ray equipment, covering operation and PCBA‑specific guidelines.
• Support NPI and transferred PCBA projects by programming and commissioning wave, selective wave, robot, manual soldering and depaneling lines.
• Collaborate with the Industrialization Program Manager to deliver process flow charts, PFMEA, PPAP and influence PCB/PCBA design through DFM reviews.
• Track and improve cycle times, defect and scrap rates for each PCBA SKU and update production planning data.
• Manage tool procurement, CAPEX definition and technical benchmarking with equipment suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in PCBA soldering manufacturing engineering.
• Proven experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to work with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Required skills

• ERSA Wave and selective wave soldering equipment.
• Robot soldering (Japan Unix) and manual soldering setups.
• OMRON InLine X‑Ray inspection system and analysis.
• Lean Manufacturing, VAVE and NPI processes.
• IPC‑A610 Class 3 knowledge and ESD safety procedures.
