Process Piping Inspector – Oil & Gas

About the role

SGS is seeking an experienced Process Piping Inspector to join its team in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi, supporting oil and gas projects. The role involves ensuring that piping fabrication, erection, welding and testing activities meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor piping fabrication and erection activities on site.
• Inspect welding operations and verify compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
• Witness and monitor pressure testing and hydro‑testing activities.
• Check welding consumables, pre‑heat requirements and post‑weld conditions.
• Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, applicable codes, project specifications and inspection‑test plans (ITPs).
• Review inspection and testing documentation and report non‑conformities.
• Coordinate with construction, quality and project teams regarding inspection activities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in piping and welding inspection for oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of applicable ASME codes.
• Good understanding of hydro‑test and pressure‑testing procedures.
• Hands‑on experience in piping fabrication, erection and welding inspection.
