Production Team Leader

About the role

The Production Team Leader will oversee daily manufacturing operations in a designated production area, ensuring safety, quality, and on‑time delivery. Reporting to senior management, the role coordinates with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Training to meet the company’s defense manufacturing objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily production execution, meeting safety, quality and delivery targets.
• Plan and allocate staffing, matching operator skills to line priorities and takt time.
• Run tier meetings and maintain visual management tools such as SQDC boards, escalating and resolving blockers.
• Ensure product quality through standard work compliance, in‑process checks, traceability and immediate defect containment.
• Coach and develop operators, coordinating onboarding, certification and re‑certification.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, waste reduction, defect reduction, process stabilization) and sustain gains through audits.
• Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to address downtime, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventive actions.

Required profile

• 7‑8+ years of experience in manufacturing environments, with at least 2 years leading shop‑floor teams.
• Strong knowledge of production KPIs (output, schedule adherence, FPY, scrap/rework, OTD/OTIF).
• Proven ability to work in ramp‑up contexts with changing priorities and high execution intensity.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills for multicultural teams.

• Root‑cause analysis techniques (5‑Why, 8D/A3).
• Visual management tools (SQDC boards).
• Production KPI monitoring and reporting.
