Project Lead Engineer

About the role

At ABB in Abu Dhabi, the Project Lead Engineer drives engineering delivery for automation and power projects, acting as the technical authority across multiple disciplines. Reporting to the Automation Engineering Manager, you will ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and design authority for low‑to‑medium complexity projects in Process Control, Safety Systems, Power Management or Substation Control.
• Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques, ensuring deliverables meet safety, quality and contractual requirements.
• Lead, supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (up to 10 members), both in‑house and outsourced.
• Interact with customers, contractors and suppliers to resolve technical issues and enhance satisfaction.
• Create work plans, cost estimates and schedules in collaboration with Project Managers.
• Support installation, commissioning and on‑site activities, ensuring seamless hand‑over.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a technical lead on automation or power projects of low to medium complexity.
• Strong knowledge of Process Control, Safety Systems, Power Management Systems or Substation Control and Monitoring.
• Ability to coach engineers, translate conceptual designs into detailed documentation and manage cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
