Purchase Officer / Manager – Shipping Procurement

About the role

The company is a fast‑growing shipping organization operating a fleet that transports crude oil and petroleum products. It is looking for a motivated Purchase Officer/Manager to join the procurement team and support vessel requisitions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day requisitions from the fleet using the company’s procurement and supply‑chain management systems.
• Source competitive quotations for technical spare parts, engine and deck stores, marine chemicals, safety equipment, lubricants, paints, provisions, dry‑dock materials and repair services.
• Prepare commercial bid comparison reports and summarize supplier offers for superintendent review.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and contractual agreements with suppliers.
• Invite, evaluate and recommend supplier tenders, bids and proposals in line with company procedures.
• Coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to vessels worldwide.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, owner requirements and budget controls.
• Support dry‑dock projects and operational expenditure (OpEx) procurement activities.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, monitor performance and track pricing deviations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience in shipping, maritime, ship‑management or tanker operations.
• Strong understanding of marine procurement and end‑to‑end Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Russian proficiency is highly preferred.
• Experience with tanker vessels, crude oil or petroleum product carriers is an advantage.
