Quality Inspector – Welding & Coating

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Quality Inspector (Inspector I) to oversee welding and coating activities on its Abu Dhabi site. The role ensures that all fabrication, installation, and testing processes meet project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on welding fabrication, erection, and testing of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items.
• Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR) and weld maps; witness welder qualifications.
• Control storage, handling and traceability of welding consumables; ensure consumable control system is in place.
• Verify that welding equipment, ovens and quivers are serviceable and calibrated.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections during fabrication and construction, including in‑process and final checks.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, daily welding reports and fit‑up/final visual reports.
• Monitor contractor performance, verify personnel qualifications and certifications for welding techniques.
• Review PWHT charts and test reports for compliance.
• Ensure coating activities comply with weather constraints, manufacturer instructions and MSDS requirements; maintain material traceability.

Required profile

• Experience in welding inspection on industrial or construction projects.
• Familiarity with WPS, PQR, weld maps and qualification procedures.
• Ability to assess equipment condition and calibration status.
• Knowledge of coating application standards and safe handling of chemicals.

• Welding inspection techniques (visual, dimensional).
