Safety Officer / HSE Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Safety Officer / HSE Engineer to support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) systems across power‑plant, industrial, electromechanical and construction sites in Abu Dhabi. The role requires strong site‑based experience, solid knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and the ability to work closely with operations, contractors and management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine HSE inspections, audits and risk assessments on power‑plant, industrial and electromechanical project sites.
• Develop, review and implement method statements, risk assessments, job safety analyses and permit‑to‑work systems for high‑risk activities.
• Monitor safety controls for electrical/mechanical works, heavy‑equipment lifting, confined‑space entry, hot works, work at height and plant operations.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions; produce detailed reports with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and safety training for employees, subcontractors and visitors.
• Maintain HSE documentation, inspection records, training logs, incident registers and corrective‑action tracking.
• Support emergency preparedness, fire‑safety drills, evacuation plans and coordination with site emergency teams.
• Prepare and submit HSE performance reports, KPIs and statistics to management and clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of site‑based HSE experience in power‑plant, industrial or electromechanical environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, authority requirements and international best practices.
• Proven ability to work with operations, engineering, procurement and contractor teams.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
