School Counsellor

About the role

The School Counsellor will join GEMS Founders School in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, to support the social, emotional, behavioural and academic development of students. Working closely with pupils, staff and parents, the role promotes mental‑health awareness and resilience across the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling for students, parents and staff.
• Deliver crisis‑intervention support and develop personalised support plans.
• Design and run school‑wide wellbeing programmes, workshops and awareness campaigns.
• Maintain confidential case records in line with safeguarding regulations.
• Collaborate with teachers and leadership to identify needs and implement interventions.
• Contribute to policy development and foster an inclusive, supportive environment.

Required profile

• Possession of a valid DCD licence.
• Commitment to GEMS core values and adherence to school policies.
• Willingness to work beyond standard hours when required.
• Ability to attend staff meetings and serve on committees.

Required skills

• Strong counselling and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in crisis intervention and wellbeing programme delivery.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and regulatory guidelines.
