SCMS Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The SCMS Commissioning Engineer will lead the installation and commissioning of Substation Automation systems for medium‑complexity projects in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that all activities are performed safely, on schedule, and in line with contract specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the commissioning function in project and design review meetings and help define the commissioning philosophy.
• Execute commissioning design changes, produce as‑built documentation, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist Project Managers with claim preparation, work‑plan creation, and risk/opportunity assessments during commissioning.
• Report contract, quality, program, or cost issues early and propose corrective actions.
• Coordinate with customers and external providers to obtain acceptance criteria, close open issues, and conduct performance tests.
• Manage small commissioning teams, oversee site activities for customer acceptance certification, and secure utility approvals for SAS system commissioning.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a commissioning engineer on Substation Automation or similar power‑industry projects.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations, contractual requirements, and quality standards.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
• Willingness to coach colleagues and share best practices across the business unit.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Substation Automation systems and related third‑party products.
• Familiarity with commissioning documentation, as‑built records, and SAT procedures.
• Experience managing site permits, health‑and‑safety compliance, and utility coordination.
