Secondary Design Engineer – Substation Protection & Automation

About the role

The Secondary Design Engineer will support the design of substation protection and automation systems for Larsen & Toubro projects in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Design Lead (Secondary), you will review and execute secondary engineering activities, ensuring compliance with client specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Complete all design deliverables on schedule, including CRP and automation drawings from vendors.
• Coordinate with site execution, cluster teams, and vendors to resolve design and compliance queries.
• Obtain client specifications, prepare check‑lists, and evaluate technical offers.
• Perform design calculations for CT/VT, battery sizing, and develop DC & AC single‑line diagrams.
• Review Bill of Materials against tender quantities and support pre‑tender engineering estimations.
• Collaborate with primary design engineers and project engineering managers.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 month of relevant experience in secondary engineering for substations.
• Strong knowledge of protection and automation systems, including protection applications.
• Familiarity with national and international codes and standards.
• Ability to interact with vendors and internal teams to ensure technical compliance.
