About the role

GEMS American Academy in Abu Dhabi is seeking a passionate Secondary IB Mathematics Teacher to join its faculty from August 2026. The role involves delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) mathematics curriculum to high‑school students within an American‑based school environment that values inquiry‑based learning and global citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned IB math lessons using inquiry‑based and technology‑enhanced approaches.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including English language learners and gifted students.
• Maintain a positive, respectful classroom culture that promotes collaboration, curiosity and student well‑being.
• Assess student progress through authentic methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning, curriculum development and co‑curricular programmes.
• Participate actively in school community and extracurricular activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related subject with a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state license or equivalent) in Mathematics.
• Experience teaching high‑school mathematics, preferably within an American or IB curriculum.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, reflective attitude.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and fostering an inclusive school culture.
