Senior Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor – Safety, Health & Environment to lead safety excellence and environmental stewardship for AECOM’s projects in the United Arab Emirates. The role will provide strategic guidance, develop policies, and embed a proactive risk‑aware culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and programs aligned with UAE regulations and international standards.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards, compliance gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑miss events, document findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programmes for personnel at all levels.
• Maintain comprehensive safety records, reports and documentation to support regulatory compliance and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Collaborate with operational teams, management and external stakeholders to integrate safety into daily activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Safety, Health & Environment advisory or management roles within construction, road, infrastructure or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/GCC occupational safety and health regulations and standards.
• Proven ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or equivalent are preferred.
