Senior Business Development Executive – Freight

About the role

The Senior Business Development Executive – Freight will lead the acquisition and growth of high‑value freight forwarding clients for ZAJEL. This senior position combines strategic sales planning, key account management and mentorship of junior team members to drive revenue and market share.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, acquire and retain strategic freight forwarding clients, ensuring long‑term contracts and revenue growth.
• Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, proposal preparation and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with the sales manager to design and execute direct and indirect sales strategies, including cross‑selling and up‑selling.
• Prepare accurate sales forecasts, market mapping and competitor analysis for senior management.
• Coordinate with internal units (project, R&D, marketing) to align product offerings with client needs.
• Mentor and support junior sales staff, fostering skill development and performance excellence.
• Monitor client satisfaction, resolve escalations and ensure high levels of service quality.
• Report sales performance, pipeline status and key metrics to senior leadership on a regular basis.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in business development or sales within freight forwarding, logistics or transport.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high‑value accounts and achieve sales targets.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across multiple business functions.
