Senior Civil Engineer – Bridges

About the role

The Senior Civil Engineer – Bridges will lead the structural engineering activities for bridge facilities in Dubai. The role involves managing inspections, evaluations, corrective maintenance and coordination with contractors to ensure the safety and longevity of bridge components.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed structural inspections of steel bridge elements, box girders, pontoons, machinery pits, concrete structures, access platforms, ladders and supports.
• Identify defects such as corrosion, cracking, deformation, water leakage, coating failures and concrete spalling, and prepare inspection and condition reports.
• Develop and review repair methodologies for structural steel, reinforced concrete and marine structures.
• Review structural drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection and test plans, risk assessments and technical calculations.
• Coordinate corrective and planned maintenance work orders from initiation through execution, inspection, approval and closure.
• Supervise repair works including steel plate replacement, welding, strengthening, crack repair, concrete repair, grouting and protective coating applications.
• Review welding procedures, WPS, PQR, welder qualifications and ensure compliance with NDT requirements.
• Verify fabrication, erection, bolt tightening, welding quality and surface preparation of structural steel.
• Coordinate non‑destructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, thickness measurement) and review material test certificates.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in structural inspection and maintenance of bridges and marine structures.
• Proficiency in reviewing engineering documentation, drawings and technical calculations.
• Ability to develop repair methodologies and supervise on‑site repair works.
• Strong knowledge of welding procedures, qualifications and non‑destructive testing methods.
